School improvement is about making a difference. If you add value, you can probably find a way to measure it. The easiest measurements are Progress 8 and Ofsted, but there are lots of other ways.
Every school leader works incredibly hard to improve the life chances of the young people in their school. Leaders value the adults who work in their schools and usually build excellent relationships.
So, if progress is poor, what is the issue? I won’t tell you, even if I think I know. And, because I always think I know, it is very easy for me to ignore that voice.
Instead, I listen to your problems, and your leaders. Then I take ideas from a range of educational research, and work with you to see how they might fit your context. You might hear 10 ideas and choose 1, or 15 ideas and choose 8 - I have no problem with most ideas being rejected.Â
Then we’ll work out how to implement it, plan for all the ways it could go wrong, and measure it, so that it goes right. My line in the sand is, can I measure the impact.
If I can’t help you improve your school, solving your problems in measurable ways, get rid of me. So far, schools only do this once their Ofsted grade goes up.
This is why I rarely do one off events. If you are interested in using research to improve any aspect of your school, I can help.
